WIKI
Everything you need whether you just joined or you've been here for months. If something's missing, open a ticket in Discord.
Getting Started
Vertex is a hard-survival server — vanilla mechanics, no keep-inventory, real consequences. Here's the shortest possible path to your first hour:
- Join at
mcvertex.duckdns.organd spawn in. - Explore on foot, or use /rtp to jump somewhere random within the world border.
- Find a base spot. When you're ready to protect it, open a ticket in Discord to get a land claim set up — see Land Claims below.
- Trade with other players through diamond shop signs — see Economy.
- Read the rules if you haven't yet. It's five minutes and it matters.
Commands
| Command | What it does | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| /rtp | Random teleport anywhere inside the world border. 5-second warmup, cancels if you move. | Everyone |
| /viewclaim | Highlight your land claim for 10 seconds and show its details in chat. | Everyone |
| /trust | Give another player build access to your claim. | Everyone (claim owners) |
| /untrust | Revoke a player's access to your claim. | Everyone (claim owners) |
| /shop | Browse, search, or manage diamond shop signs. | Everyone |
| /map | Get a link to the live map. | Everyone |
| /wiki | Get a link to this page. | Everyone |
| /rules | Get a link to the rules. | Everyone |
| /spawn | Teleport to world spawn. | Admin, Moderator |
| /staffchat | Private chat channel for staff coordination. | Moderator+ |
Notably absent on purpose: /home, /tpa, /back, and player-to-player teleporting. RTP is the only teleport open to everyone — it keeps exploration meaningful.
Ranks
Everyone starts as Member. Ranks are earned, not bought.
Economy
Diamonds are the only currency on Vertex. There's no invisible "balance" — wealth is however many diamonds you're physically holding.
Trading happens through player-made shop signs bound to a chest or barrel. Right-click a shop sign while holding the right item to buy or sell. Use /shop to browse every shop on the server, search for an item, or manage your own.
Land Claims
Land claims protect an area from other players building or breaking inside it. Like everything else that matters, claims are staff-request only — you can't claim land yourself.
- Build or find the spot you want protected.
- Open a ticket in Discord with the center point and size of the area you want protected.
- A Moderator or Admin will create the claim for you.
- You (and anyone you decide to add) can then build freely inside it — everyone else is blocked automatically.
To check your claim's boundaries anytime, use /viewclaim — it highlights your claim in-world for 10 seconds and prints its size and location in chat. If you don't have a claim yet, it'll tell you that instead.
To let a friend build inside your claim, stand inside it and use /trust <playername>. Use /untrust <playername> to revoke it later, or /trustlist to see who currently has access.
Each player can have one claim at a time.
The World
- World border: 10,000 blocks wide (5,000 in any direction from spawn), in the Overworld and the End.
- Spawn protection: a 15-block radius around spawn is protected — only Admins can build or break blocks there.
- Loot: chests, barrels, and item frames (including elytras) are personal — everyone gets their own loot from the same container, so there's no racing to be first.
- Anti-cheat: the server actively monitors for cheats. Legitimate play is never affected; repeated, high-confidence violations result in an automatic ban.
Cross-Play
Vertex supports players joining from:
- Older Java Edition versions — you don't need to be on the latest Minecraft release to join.
- Bedrock Edition — consoles, mobile, and Windows players can join directly, no Java account required.
Staff & Discord
All land claim requests, reports, and general questions go through a ticket in Discord — it keeps a record and gets to the right staff member. Staff can also be reached in-game for quick things, but tickets are the reliable way to get something done.
